Behind The F 4-25-20: Why Won't Things Just Work?

Well the trivia episode came off well. I'm really happy with the overall presentation. I managed to find a scoreboard online that OBS was able to grab and incorporate which made the YouTube stream that much more polished.

The one hiccup I didn't forsee was the livestream never making it to the website. YouTube does not making sharing your stream very intuitive and I've had to watch a couple different tutorials on how to embed our channel into the website. I've been putting off trying to figure it out, but I'll probably dig into it tonight. What I want is for two windows on the "Watch Live" page: one that shows the live stream in progress, and another that shows the most recent episode underneath. I thought I had embedded a window that would automatically play the stream once it started but alas I was mistaken. There has to be a way, I just have to figure it out. What I don't want is to have to manually embed a live stream every week. If I have to, I will, but I really want something I can 'set and forget'.

But that leads me to issue number two: YouTube struggled to keep the smooth framerate from OBS. This is something that Facebook Live handled pretty seamlessly and is making me think that live streaming on Facebook and then uploading the file afterward to YouTube is the way to go. You'd think it'd be the other way around, but tip your cap the Zuckerberg empire because they seem to have a better handle on this whole live streaming thing. Ironic, no?
